Our university's Turkish Music Department faculty member, Lecturer Semih ÖZDEMİR, was deemed worthy of an award in a composition competition organized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in honor and memory of Prof. Dr. Alaeddin Yavaşça, one of the important names in Turkish music.
Yavaşça, who is considered one of the last links in the classical practice chain of Turkish music, has left his mark on music history with his hundreds of compositions in various forms and his leading vocal artistry.
In this competition, organized with the aim of adding new works to the Turkish Music repertoire in line with his musical line, ÖZDEMİR won with a work in Şeddisaba makam and song form.
